Meet Uncle
Andy & John
It all begins with an idea.
People often ask us how or why we started InBread, here’s the inside scoop.
We are both from the UK but moved to Amsterdam in 2017 (John) and 2020 (Andy) and met in our previous, corporate job. John was working in manufacturing and supply chain and Andrew was heavily involved in food presentation and marketing. Despite neither of us having previous experience in the hospitality industry, Andrew has always had a passion for food and has always been researching and the experimenting in the kitchen. Meanwhile John developed a passion to leave the corporate world - considered traveling or a complete career change but not entirely sure what path to take. From this, they decided to set up their own restaurant / bar.
The idea is to create fusion food using cuisines from all over the world. The easiest format to showcase any and all cuisines is a sandwich - anything can go in a sandwich! And a Japanese sando is the most aesthetically pleasing form and so the products were born.
However, we did not want to call them “sandwiches “ as each one is more like a meal - all the pickles, sauces marinades are made in by us in our kitchen, even the bread is our own recipe, made for us by a local baker. The only thing we buy is the mayonnaise! So rather than a sandwich, it’s a full meal which just happens to be “in bread”. And that is the origin of the name of our restaurant. As far as we are aware there is no other meaning to InBread…👀
So look out for our upcoming collaborations and sandos of the month, starting in September. Available to be collected for takeaway or enjoyed amongst our cyberpunk themed bar with a glass of natural wine or a cocktail. So what are you waiting for? Come and join the InBread family 😬
